Just spent a wonderful week at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico at a pastels course. Ghost Ranch is spectacular (Georgia O’Keeffe lived here for many years) and the class was full of good learning and fascinating women.

Ghost Ranch and upcoming shows
Back in Colorado
Just returned to Colorado with 4 feet of snow in front of our cabin. I have been painting both small and large scenes from all over Colorado. And my website has just been updated. This weekend we are at the Denver Gift Show. I am looking forward to getting back to the cabin and settling down for some more serious painting. And watching as the snow melts and the river reappears.
Hood River
Just drove up the gorge to Hood River…we are in the Harvest Festival (exit 63 off I-84!!) today and Sunday. A gorgeous day to drive up here. Fall colors reflecting in the river, not windy for once…bad for windsurfers but great reflections in the river. Took a picture from my favorite secret spot…there will be an upcoming painting. The sun is out, unexpectedly…the weather dudes are wrong again. Next weekend, Art in the Burbs in Tigard…a little closer to home. My latest painting is of the gorge…
Colorado
A very productive time here. It doesn’t hurt that when you want to take a break you just walk out the door to gaze at the river and mountains. I have been painting a lot and we have had some very successful shows. I have discovered a great new material to paint on called watercolor canvas. Very excited about it and it does not need glass. My original acrylics have been selling well but I still don’t feel as comfortable as I do with watercolor. Next weekend (Labor Day weekend) Rob will be in Breckenridge COand I will be at Black Butte Ranch OR on Friday night and Saturday. Last time I was there there was a forest fire and I still sold a lot. This will be interesting.
Sept 13 Sunday I will be at the Art and Antiques thing in Millennium Park in Lake Oswego. Then back to CO for Summersetfest in Littleton, CO. Thank goodness for airmiles.
How much art can you fit into a VW bug?
Find out this weekend July 11 – 12. I will be at the lake oswego Farmer’s Market on Saturday from 8:30 – 1:30 and then return on sunday for the Art market 10:00 – 3:00 , both in Millennnium Park plaza.
On the way to Grand Junction
In Idaho this morning…the sun is streaming through the clouds like a really cheesy painting. We’re at the Grand Junction Art and Jazz Festival Friday, Sat and Sunday May 8 – 10. I like it that they put Art before Jazz; if its the other way around we have discovered that it is fun but people come for the jazz. We’ll see. If you come to the booth and say you read the blog we’ll give you 25% off any one item. See you in Grand Junction.
OSU Corvallis show this weekend!
Finally an art show, rain or shine. It’s just adjacent to the OSU Bookstore. Officially it’s for Mom’s Weekend, but you don’t have to be a mom, or OSU fan to attend. See ya there I hope; we’ll have a lot of new stuff.
Spring things
It is the dull month of the year for art shows for us, so we have been getting ready for our busy summer. We’re striking out and trying some new ones in Colorado and Utah, and also some new ceramics. We keep improving on these so they are not all on the website. We have been doing some custom tiles that would be fabulous in a shower, kitchen backsplash, fireplace or whereever. When we get to Colorado we are going to put some around our front door. They will be incredibly unique; each one is different and all handmade, so if you want something that will stand out in your house, this is it. I will try to post some of them on the website soon, under Ceramics.
I am also twittering now (twitter.com/forrestgallery) so I will be able to give an up to the minute report on any shows we’re going to, or new things we’re doing.
Also if you have anyquestions at all while we’re trying to get the site totally up to date, don’t hesitate to call or email.
New Website!
My new website is up and running. I’m very excited about it…it really gets more information across very effectively, I think. We’re still working out a few kinks, but all in all it is much more user friendly. You’ll notice that the minis and fourtych pages are missing, but not to worry…I still do them and we will get them up soon, I hope. If you want to order one in the meantime just email me at forrest@forrestgallery.net. And yes!! We have entered the 21st century with Paypal capability!
I’ll be posting frequently and fill you in on what I’m working on. I always want to paint a lot at this time of year. And Rob and I are working on a top secret joint project. Stay tuned!
